passargada house
The privileged view of the mountains and the natural slope of the land guided the design of this residence. The main floor anchors itself to the ground at the point of access and rises at the rear, creating a small semi-subterranean level. The built volume is located in a clearing at the lower portion of the site, ensuring the integrity of the forest, preserving the continuity of the existing tree masses, while also providing the desired privacy.
The new building is realized through construction gestures that are rigorously coordinated. First, the ground is excavated and contained, creating the necessary space for the configuration of the first floor (semi-subterranean) connected to the earth. From this void, columns rise to support a slab measuring 15×60 x 15×60 meters. On top of it, a wooden structure and roof modules of 1.2×1.2 meters are installed, forming the main floor of the residence with a total covered area of 207.35 m². Finally, external closing planes and partitions are added, with wood, polycarbonate, and glass windows, giving the building its final appearance.
On the main floor, the programs are organized around a patio/garden: entrance hall, gallery/library, living rooms, dining room, kitchen, guest bathroom, laundry, bedrooms, and office; on the lower floor, the practice room.
The proposed modulation allows for the creation of an open system capable of generating spatial configurations that can evolve over time, extending the lifespan of the residence.
