tinguá apartament
The Tinguá building (1968-1970) is one of the first projects by the prestigious architect Éolo Maia, in an early phase of his work in which we find modernist references and the use of exposed materials. The apartments were designed with the premise of constructive economy as a premise, which is why expensive finishes were not used. His strategy is to create elaborate spatial solutions, exploring the plastic quality of the architectural elements, both in the common areas, where the volumes of the concrete staircases with epoxy flooring in red and green are striking, and in the apartments, where the central volume of exposed concrete in the bathrooms stands out, an element that separates the private area from the social area.
The renovation of this apartment took place in two phases, with the premise of enhancing the exquisite original project.
In the first phase (2008), the bathrooms were renovated, the flooring of the balcony was changed and special furniture was developed, with emphasis on the large 12-meter modular bookcase that runs across the living room.
In the second phase (2023), the kitchen and service areas were remodeled, demolishing the living room dividing wall and integrating the spaces. The kitchen layout was completely changed, creating a central island and repositioning the wet countertop. The floor was leveled to that of the living room, received a new finish in self-leveling epoxy resin, the carpentry was renovated and included the design of the stools, developed for this project. The quality of the original spaces was thus exacerbated, giving greater amplitude to the apartment.
